Map rhythm at three scales: me / us / system.
Scale 1: Me
Identify your natural cycles: focus windows, recovery needs, decision latency, and readiness signals. Replace moral language (“lazy”) with temporal language (“not yet”).
- When do you reliably enter flow?
- What interrupts your cycle completion?
- What restores you fastest?
Scale 2: Us
Teams have rhythm. Meetings, handoffs, conflict repair, and decision cadence all create a tempo.
- How quickly do questions get answered?
- What is the team’s “trust half-life” after rupture?
- Where do we speed up vs slow down?
Scale 3: System
Incentives, power, and policies set the metronome. If the system rewards speed and punishes honesty, rhythm breaks.
- Which cycles are structurally underfunded (learning, recovery, integration)?
- Where does authority substitute for readiness?
- Which decisions are reversible vs irreversible?
